What they are saying about the lecture!
“…..Your lectures were very well received. You are a
credit to magic and to the Columbus magic community. …….From
the comments I received, you are a very good teacher……”
Jep Hostetler, Magi-Fest Executive Director
“You do really good sh…, sorry, stuff!!
Karl Norman, Ring 12
“Great usable stuff….Real world magic!”
Tony Weiland, Ring 12
“Just wanted to let you know I really enjoyed your lecture
at the
Magi-Fest. The first lecture was so full I had to come back for
the "Back by Popular Demand" second lecture. It's refreshing
to see a lecture for the working restaurant magician with routines
that can be added quickly into any restaurant venue. Thanks for
sharing! “
Marty Miller, Professional Restaurant Magician
"I'm glad that a magician who actually does restaurant work
was willing to
share these secrets! Carroll Baker taught us how to make money doing
magic in restaurants! There's a lot more to restaurant magic than
just the tricks. Carroll Baker taught it all!"
L. Kobel, businessman and magician
“IBM Ring 54 of Lansing, Michigan was most pleased to host
Carroll Baker at our April meeting. After a congenial meal together
and a brief bit of business, we settled in to a wonderful lecture
from this Columbus, Ohio professional. Carroll's presentation covered
just about anything a close-up, restaurant magician might want to
see, including sponges, coins, cards and impromptu routines all
woven within effective deliveries, most of which reset as they work,
permitting the performer to move table to table non-stop. Carroll
offered many useful ideas for restaurant and other commercial work.
As proof of the validity of what he was teaching, his material was
consistently engaging, magical and amusing. Carroll Baker was entirely
approachable, open, and helpful for all of our members, novice and
skilled. Not surprisingly, the lecture continued for two hours and
was followed by another hour of informal questions and discussions.
Ring 54 thanks Carroll Baker for an informative and entertaining
evening.”
Ken Salzman, Vice President, Ring 54 of Lansing, MI
Carroll Baker is one of the most talented and giving lecturers we
have had in quite some time. A few of our members came to the lecture
expecting to be disappointed due to not having heard of him before.
Well, they were pleasantly surprised and continued to draw information
from Carroll, long after the lecture was scheduled to end. Some
even gladly missed their train to stay as long as Carroll was willing
to share his knowledge.
As the Chairman of the John McNicholas Magician’s Round Table,
The oldest continually running lecture club in the USA, I would
highly recommend Carroll’s lecture for any club whose members
want some REAL work for table hopping and restaurant work. REAL
WORK FOR REAL WORKERS. The only times we usually stay this long
for a lecture is for someone the likes of Michael Ammar or Johnny
Thompson. Carroll is welcome at our group anytime.
Eric Appel, Chairman, JMMRT
Carroll Baker presented an entertaining lecture. He has a winning
personality, which adds much to his presentations. He performed
and taught solid, entertaining routines, which are gold for the
walk-around performer all with little or no reset. What's more,
most are within the capabilities of any magician who will put in
the time on them. The lecture notes are very well done, far better
than many lecture notes I have purchased. This lecture is highly
recommended!
Mark Ross, Rochester NY
Effects Covered in the lecture:
Sponge Bunnies – Patter and performance of a perfect, 4
phase, multiplying rabbit routine for any audience. No blue material!
Very Puny! By far the most requested effect in Carroll’s repetoire.
Cheaters Lament – A card opener that will slay them and get
them wanting more.
Estimated Thought – a very gutsy, direct to the point, thought-of-card
effect. Almost like real mind reading.
The Ring in Box trick – This is one of Carroll’s closers
that really leave them “scratching their heads”. A real
reputation maker.
Coins across – This clean and easy handling of 4 coins will
make you look like a sleight of hand Pro!
Dragon Okito – an easy to do coin box routine. Start and
end clean. Use this to keep the magicians and layman guessing.
Leftovers – A very funny, magician in trouble, predicted
card with a kicker routine. Start saving the jokers, you’re
going to need them.
McBaker’s Aces- A unique and entertaining handling with 2
kicker endings to baffle those in the “know”
Plus: 3 effects from Carroll’s working repertoire that are
not available in magic shops!
Carroll reserves the right to sell lecture notes, DVDs, lecture
items, etc., after the lecture. However, the lecture is NOT a "dealer
show."
Carroll will try to be available for a time before or after the
lecture to share a meal and hang out with some of the magicians
whenever possible.
Please, Feel free to forward this info to other magic groups in
your area.
